Work experience placements for 2010 are available now for February half-term at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park. The Human Resources Department at Crealy are inviting students from 14 years old up to university graduates, to apply for positions for the summer season.
Crealy offers work experience placements to students from all local schools & colleges, both short term and longer term. Crealy’s most recent work experience placements included seven students from East Devon College who had to complete a 60 hour placement over a two week period. The students work shadowed and assisted in most areas of the attraction, from hospitality to entertainments. Barfoot, a student at East Devon College said,
The thing I liked about this placement was that we were placed in different areas of the park & so we never got bored
Some students come for one day a week over a six-week period while others for one or two weeks only. Crealy ensures these students gain a variety of experiences, with a schedule of time & responsibilities in each department.
Mandy Denton, Human Resources at Crealy said,
Work experience is often a person’s first time in the workplace therefore it is important to ensure they gain knowledge and valuable experience from their time with us.
We give each student a schedule for their time with us so they have days in each of our departments. Within Hospitality they can help in the cafés and catering outlets, in Retail, they work on admissions, the gift shops and photography booths. Our Animal Realm is where students can gain real hands-on experience with dealing with all our animals. Play & Rides consists of assisting with supervising plays areas and is one of the most popular work experience areas.
“Students who are working during one of Crealy special events gain even more insight into working in the leisure industry and could find themselves pumpkin carving, assisting the Crealy Witch or helping Father Christmas in his Grotto of Gifts. Work experience at Crealy is hands-on and very varied. Many of our work experience placements return to work as a Crealy Ranger during the summer season!”
Emma Robertson, a student at East Devon College said, “Thanks to Crealy I have now got a great experience, which will help me towards my chosen career path.”
Applications for Crealy’s work experience scheme can be made online at www.crealy.co.uk <http://www.crealy.co.uk> or through schools and colleges.
