Center for entrepreneurship enterprise park launches new website

Iceland’s center for entrepreneurship and enterprise park, Asbru has recently launched its new updated website. The website now has developed its usability for Asbru’s potential customers, allowing them to find the services they need more efficiently.

The Asbru Enterprise Park was formed at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) abandoned its military base in Keflavik, Iceland in 2006; with this departure, over 900 local people were left unemployed. Robyn concert op het Iceland Airwaves festival is bevestigd

De Zweedse synthipop prinses, Robyn, heeft bevestigd dat ze zal optreden op het aanstaande Iceland Airwaves festival, dat plaatsvindt van 13 tot 17 oktober. Optredens vinden plaats op verschillende plaatsen in het centrum van Reykjavik; de hoofdstad van IJsland.

Robyn is een van de vele internationale artiesten die zullen optreden tijdens het vijfdaagse evenement. De editie van 2010 zal de grootste ooit zijn sinds het ontstaan van Iceland Airwaves, met 250 bands waarvan liefst 180 van IJslandse bodem.

Oslo 2010 marathon event in Norway marks 2500 years of the marathon

Norway’s answer to the New York marathon, the Fokus Bank Oslo Marathon 2010 is set to mark the 2500-year anniversary of the long-distance running event tomorrow. Fokus Bank Oslo Marathon organizers, The Vidar Sports Club, expects close to 16,000 people to participate during this weekend’s proceedings.

This event, marking the fabled run of Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger who allegedly ran from the Battle of Marathon to Athens in 490 BC, will set its stamp on the Norwegian capital over these two days. The event’s starting and finishing lines are located at Akershus Castle in the city center, and if the forecasts for participation stand correct, this event will set a new record for a street race in Oslo; the previous record, set in 1994 at 14,192 runners.

Elokuu-ensemble (August Ensemble) from Finland is giving a music concert in Reykjavik, Iceland

Elokuu-ensemble (August Ensemble) is a 10 year old Finnish chamber music orchestra bound together by passion and friendship. The members – Kati Arikoski, Anna-Mari Murdvee, Reetta Kataja, Leena Jaakkola, Mikk Murdvee, Jussi Aalto, Mathias Hortling and Samuli Peltonen – have been highly succesful in several national and international competitions.

The players also conduct their careers in several symphony orchestras as well as leading a professional life as soloists and chamber musicians. Elokuu-ensemble performs regularly round the year within smaller ensembles and gathers at the end of summer in Southern Ostrobothnia, in the town of Seinäjoki, where they organize a chamber music festival called Säveliä Elokuussa (Tunes in August). Concert takes place on 3rd of August in Reykjavik at the Nordic House at 20-00 (8 PM)
